La visita fisiatrica è una visita specialistica effettuata dal fisiatra, medico specializzato in medicina fisica e riabilitativa. Generalmente collabora con altre figure professionali in campo medico, come il fisioterapista, il reumatologo, il geriatra, il pediatra e il neurologo.
L’obiettivo della visita è quello di individuare il problema e accertare o meno la presenza di una patologia e le sue conseguenze sulla funzionalità dei muscoli, tendini e ossa.
L’esame è, infatti, volto a valutare, in un’ottica di riabilitazione e recupero delle funzioni del paziente, lo stato di salute globale in cui versa l’individuo che presenta condizioni problematiche di varia tipologia, in particolar modo dal punto di vista ortopedico, neurologico e respiratorio.
La diagnosi fisiatrica riguarda, quindi, le cause che determinano la sintomatologia dolorosa lamentata dal paziente. A volte, prima di procedere al trattamento possono essere necessari ulteriori accertamenti, ad esempio una radiografia, una ecografia o una risonanza magnetica.
Come si svolge la visita fisiatrica
Nella prima parte della visita il medico fa diverse domande al paziente per raccogliere informazioni sulla sua storia clinica e sulle sue abitudini (anamnesi), quindi su alimentazione, fumo, consumo di alcol, livello di attività fisica e sedentarietà, eventuali patologie a carico e terapie in corso. Ovviamente ascolterà gli eventuali sintomi riferiti dal paziente.
Nella seconda parte della visita, lo specialista procede con l’esame clinico, che si basa sulla visita vera e propria delle articolazioni o strutture muscolari/tendinee/nervose coinvolte nel processo patologico, utilizzando test clinici specifici e analizzando le capacità di movimento del paziente. La peculiarità dell’esame clinico fisiatrico comprende la valutazione delle abilità funzionali del paziente e dal grado di disabilità causate dal disturbo.
Alla fine della visita fisiatrica il medico pone la diagnosi e suggerire al paziente l’eventuale terapia oppure può richiedere al paziente di sottoporsi ad altri esami per ulteriori approfondimenti. Inoltre può valutare se il disturbo lamentato dal paziente può essere trattato mediante un percorso riabilitativo mirato.
